CV - short version

Jan Spaeth received his Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.-Ing. degree from University of Stuttgart, Germany, in 1994 and 2002, respectively. From 1994 until 2000 he was with the Institute of Communication Networks and Computer Engineering at University of Stuttgart, Germany. There he worked on network planning and performance evaluation, mainly for photonic networks. He participated in several national and international research projects, including COST239, COST266 and ACTS PHOTON, where he was a visiting scientist at the Information Technology Department, University of Ghent, Belgium in 1997. He also assisted in lectures on communication networks.

In 2001 he joined Marconi in Backnang, Germany, which has been acquired by Ericsson in 2006. There he has been working on network and product strategies for future communication networks, and in addition acted as project co-ordinator of the IST project MUPBED.

In 2008, he joined Tesat Spacecom GmbH, where he has been leading a large test department for active satellite components until February 2019.

In 2019 he joined AFRISO-EURO-Index GmbH in Güglingen, Germany as Managing Director Technology.

In 2009, he has been appointed as evaluator for research projects by the European Commission. In addition, he has been a part-time lecturer for courses in computer communications at the Berufsakademie Stuttgart (University of Cooperative Education) for many years since 1995.
